Passenger partially sucked out of window during plane flight -- his wife and others held on to him
A passenger partially sucked out of a plane window during flight, prompting emergency return and an investigation into the cause. Airline officials said an engine failure damaged the window after takeoff, and the incident occurred on a Ryanair Boeing 737 traveling from Thessaloniki, Greece to Memmingen, Germany on 10 July. The flight reportedly turned back to Thessaloniki and landed safely. The man, described as 61 years old and unidentified, was bleeding and initially fainted; witnesses and ERT reported he was pulled head-first up to his shoulders while other passengers held onto him. Ryanair said passengers returned to the terminal and that one passenger received medical assistance on the ground in Thessaloniki. The Hellenic Air and Rail Safety Investigation Authority is investigating.
