Investigations into fishing vessel crash continue - months after alleged incident
Investigations into a fishing-vessel crash are continuing months after an alleged incident in Lynn. In late June—believed to be during the last two weeks—the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) confirmed it was looking into a collision after video was shared with Lynn News. The footage, recorded by an unknown person aboard the impacted boat amid choppy waters, shows two other vessels approaching at speed. The MCA has now said the probe remains ongoing and declined further comment. Both boats display visible identification numbers showing they are registered fishing vessels with West Norfolk Council, and one vessel made contact. One is described as an approved factory vessel able to cook, cool and store shrimp onboard. The video includes a shouted comment about an arrest, and an anonymous source suggested the crash stemmed from a dispute over cockle lays, private shellfish harvesting plots. It has not been confirmed that it happened on The Wash.
