Kenneth E. Robbins, Jr., a 93-year-old engineer, craftsman, outdoorsman, and longtime boat enthusiast, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born March 29, 1933, in Huletts Landing, New York, on the shores of northern Lake George, he was described as happiest on the water throughout his life. After graduating from Whitehall High School, Robbins earned an associate degree in Construction Trades and served in the Army in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1956. He later studied at RPI, receiving a B.S. in Engineering with honors, and spent a 35-year career at GE Steam & Turbine in Schenectady, where he received multiple patents. Beyond work, he led whitewater canoeing trips and taught safety classes year-round. His family said he built and restored various boats, including sailboats, canoes, and the “Turf,” and created a lasting legacy through a family camp on Lake George.
