Year-old rescued after clinging to capsized boat for days in Alaska's Bering Sea

A 15-year-old boy was rescued after clinging to a capsized skiff for close to three days in Alaska’s frigid Bering Sea, the U.S. Coast Guard said. The boy’s brother and cousin died after the small boat flipped; their bodies were recovered later near St. Lawrence Island, a remote island closer to Russia than to the United States. Authorities began searching on Monday after family members reported the three missing the night before. The Coast Guard said one of its air crews spotted the teen and deployed a raft and supplies before coordinating with the fishing vessel “The Northwest Explorer.” Video from the rescue showed the teen in a bright yellow jacket kneeling atop the overturned skiff. The Coast Guard reported he had hypothermia symptoms, and the crew warmed him with blankets and hot packs.
