Dhiraj Bommadevara scripts history with Archery World Cup Final gold, becomes first Indian man to win title

Dhiraj Bommadevara became the first Indian man to win an individual Archery World Cup Final title, beating Japan’s Nakanishi Junya in a dramatic shoot-off in Saltillo, Mexico, at the Archery World Cup Final 2026. The 25-year-old clinched gold after the match went down to the final arrow, finishing 6-5 in a tense decider. With the title at stake, Bommadevara fired a perfect 10 while Nakanishi hit a nine. Earlier in the event, Dhiraj opened with a 7-1 quarter-final win over Türkiye’s Berkim Tümer and followed with another 7-1 semi-final victory over France’s Jean-Charles Valladont.
