Honda, Acura recall 880,000 vehicles after salted roads trigger suspension corrosion

The recall covers 880,514 Honda and Acura vehicles due to rear-suspension corrosion worsened by salted roads. Pilot models from 2016-2022 total about 463,000, while MDX (2014-2020) total 217,000. Other affected models include Ridgeline (2017-2023) with 110,000 and Passport (2019-2023) with 89,000. NHTSA warns rear-suspension failure can reduce handling and raise crash risk. The recall spans 22 states and the District of Columbia, with notices beginning July 7. Dealers will inspect rear subframes and install reinforcement kits; severe corrosion will be repaired or replaced at no cost. VINs can be checked on NHTSA's site. Honda says there have been no warranty claims or injuries reported to date.
