Lakeshore Public Media announces simulcast of WLPR 89.1, WBAA News 101.3

Lakeshore Public Media will simulcast WLPR 89.1 FM and WBAA News 101.3 FM starting July 6 to preserve public radio in Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland. The move follows 2025 funding cuts that produced a 38% revenue drop. Interim president Nancy Clifford calls the partnership a creative way to sustain service. Northwest Indiana listeners will hear Morning Edition and All Things Considered, plus shared programs Fresh Air and Here & Now.

WBAA’s Lafayette-area reach remains intact, and sponsorships will reflect both stations. WBAA listeners won’t notice signal or schedule changes. The collaboration broadens Lakeshore’s coverage into Lafayette and greater Indiana. State and federal cuts in 2025 forced Lakeshore to rethink operations.
