A new study targeting EV battery myths says worries about batteries “dying all the time” don’t match real-world data. Aviloo, an Australian EV analytics firm, analyzed 20 popular used EV models and calculated median battery state of health (SoH). Using an S-curve pattern typical of battery degradation, the report finds only mild loss early on and a sharper decline near the end of life. After 50,000 km (31,000 miles), median SoH ranged from 91% to 97%. At 100,000 km (62,000 miles), it was 88% to 95%, and at 150,000 km (93,000 miles), 87% to 94%.
