Ahead of the Fourth of July, federal safety regulators said more than 100,000 fireworks sold nationwide are being recalled due to malfunction risks that can cause explosions and burns. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said Winco is recalling its “Unity 7 Shot” 200-gram aerial cake fireworks devices because they can tip over, creating serious injury hazards. More than 87,000 units sold between January and May are included, and consumers may return them to the store for a full refund. CPSC also recalled Winco’s “Roman Candles 8 Shot 3-Pack” devices, with about 13,500 units affected after reports that they can blow out from the tube side. No injuries have been reported, and retailers including Pyro City sold units for about $6 to $8 each.
