Major response as crews fight huge fire at complex of business units

A major emergency response is underway after a huge fire broke out at a complex of business units near Sittingbourne, at Tonge Corner Farm off Church Road. Flames and thick smoke were visible for miles, and residents were evacuated. Power was switched off as a precaution due to fears the blaze could reach overhead electricity pylons. The fire began around 3:30pm, and an explosion reportedly blew the roof off one building, prompting firefighters to widen the cordon. An eyewitness, David Small, 61, said several businesses were already affected and that firefighters brought a foam unit from Rochester, citing that water was not working. Kent Fire and Rescue was contacted for comment.
