Coinbase Is Down 26% in October: Hold On to COIN Stock, or Drop It Like a Hot Potato?
Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: COIN) is down 26% in October to $138.07, falling from a September 30 close of $186.41. The selloff includes a 14% drop from the prior session and extends a longer slump, with shares lower both year to date and over the past year. The decline mirrors broader weakness in crypto-linked equities, described as a “stealth bear market.” Still, long-term holders face the key question of whether Coinbase’s push beyond spot trading is enough. The post compares performance with Robinhood (NASDAQ: HOOD) down 29% to $82.72 and Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) down 12% to $75.67, noting Coinbase is more dependent on crypto activity. Coinbase returned to profit in Q3 2026 with $719 million net income and adjusted EBITDA of $333 million on October 29. However, most reported profit came from $715 million in crypto held for investment; stripping that out leaves adjusted net income of $78 million.
