Classic Mustangs Stripped By Fraudulent Mechanics: Here's How To Protect Your Investment
A group of owners of vintage Ford Mustangs say they were left with unfinished restorations and missing parts after trusting a shop in Memphis, Tennessee, called Classic Mustang Specialist. According to the accounts described, the shop became unresponsive and was later found abandoned, with customers’ vehicles left in a parking lot. One owner, Andrea Bailey, reported that her 1967 Mustang was supposed to receive heating and air conditioning, drum-to-disc brake changes, interior refurbishment, and repainting. She says she paid $11,172 for labor and about $8,637.67 for parts that never arrived, totaling roughly $19,809.67. Another victim paid $7,000 for a 1965 Mustang. The shop’s owner, 76-year-old Garner Kirkendoll, was identified and arrested.
