NASCAR: SVG Makes Blunt Comment About Charlotte Roval
Shane van Gisbergen (SVG) offered a blunt take on the Charlotte Roval after NASCAR returned to the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval for the fall Chase race, following years of racing on the road course. The Charlotte Roval is a hybrid layout running 2.28 miles across the 1.5-mile oval and through the infield. After a seventh-place finish in Sunday’s Bank of America 400, van Gisbergen said he likes road courses and called the Roval, “a [expletive] road course,” adding that he doesn’t mind the change and that more road courses would be good. He attributed his improved performance at Charlotte to having both grip and balance. Despite slipping early in the 267-lap race, he praised adjustments to his Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet, and said the result gives the team momentum as he enters his second full-time Cup season.
